Letter to Parents and Guests

Dear Parents and Guests:

We would like to welcome you to our library media centers.

Jakarta Intercultural School Library Media Centers are open to all students and their parents. We have four library media centers, one on each of our four campuses, and your JIS identification card can be used to check out materials in all four libraries. The card is good until your youngest child graduates from JIS or when the last child withdraws from school. There is a limit of five (5) books per card, and the books can be kept for two (2 weeks. They can be renewed by phone or by bringing them in if you are not finished with them. Students cannot renew by phone but must bring the book in to get it renewed.

The elementary library media centers are open from 7:15 to 3:30, and you are welcome at any time. Both elementary libraries have excellent facilities and outstanding collections and would love to have you come in after school with your child. We all feel that reading to young children is very important. The Middle School Library Media Center is open from 7:00 to 5:00 on school days, and also would like to have you drop by and visit during school or after school with your child. The High School Library Media Center is open from 7:00 to 5:00 on weekdays and from 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturday.

We have a large fiction section as well as non-fiction, and also have collections in French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, and Indonesian. There is also a large collection of books about Indonesia and books on parenting.
All the libraries welcome volunteers and would like to invite you to come to meet us. The libraries are free to use at all times except during the long break, June to August. During this long holiday, we charge a refundable use fee of $150 US, which you get back when you present the receipt. This will allow the JIS community to check out a maximum of ten books per family.

JIS Alumni will be considered a paid patron and able to check out a maximum of three books provided they have provided a $150 US dollar deposit.

Please feel free to come in at any time and introduce yourselves to us. We will be happy to help you or answer your questions.

Sincerely,
